Why would you do that? It would be silly. However, for doing the shopping and dropping kids off at local schools, they're great. Don't worry, Dug, nobody is trying to take your car and force you to use one.

I think the "single ethnicity" they mean is "not white".

Cycled past there many a time. Also, when I was a kid, we climbed along the arches over the half moon Bridge further towards Prudhoe (think its real name is Hagg Bank Bridge). Seriously can't believe we did that, must have been out of our minds.

Yes, she was a Sorel Abyssinian. Sadly no more.

When I lived in Amsterdam, I was running late, saw a tram at the stop and legged it. Got on, it started off, and I realised I'd gone into Brit mode - it was the wrong side & heading the wrong way.

Northern Ireland. The troubles. It's why they almost stop after the 90s.

Depends how it's defined, but probably Northern Ireland.
northfield.bsky.social
If you mean the UK, I'd guess it's largely Northern Ireland.

Looks like Don Pietro's house in Gomarrah.

There are two chippies in Gosforth, Newcastle, which apparently legally has to be described as "leafy suburb Gosforth", & where it's virtually obligatory to have an expensive German car. I'm pretty sure the customers aren't being bussed in from Benwell or Byker.

A friend of a friend was a news cameraman years ago. Somebody asked him his advice for staying safe in - I think - Serbia during the conflict. He said, do up your seatbelt, the drivers are insane.

Well, for what it's worth, I'm from a dead ordinary background in Newcastle and parmos are fckng awful. Mind, so is Newcastle Brown Ale. Stotties are mint though, and a stottie chip butty is even better.

Coming from sandyford way, so I usually cut across Burdon Terrace, path past Princess Mary's, up the North Road, then Highbury. Not 100% sure Princess Mary's is allowed because I think it's private, but never see anyone there anyway. Avoids Osborne Road anyway.

Must admit, it's on my natural route to & from town but since I broke a spoke I avoid it unless I forget. But I went down this morning to see if it's as bad as last time, and it's not. It's even worse.

Tankerville Terrace in Jesmond, up by West Jesmond primary school, is the worst I've seen in Newcastle. In parts, you can see the cobbles from the original surface. Maybe why loads of Jesmond parents have Range Rovers.

I'd definitely change it if I were him. Philip isn't a good name.

Aye, now I remember the second referendum one was started by a brexiter who thought leave would lose. Then he got upset remainers took it over. Irony turned up to 11.
northfield.bsky.social
I think one of the anti-brexit ones got about that high. Maybe 2nd referendum?

Chris Mason's "why this is bad news for Starmer and Davey" article will be on the BBC website by tomorrow.

Also feel there's room for some sponsorship by the "local companies". Definitely missed a trick there.

Ah man, now I'm going to have that last line in my head every time I see the Angel of the North. And I live in Newcastle, so it's not like once a decade.

The other day I stopped crossing a footbridge over Newcastle central motorway. I looked down at the speeding lumps of metal & got one of those moments of real clarity, thinking "this is crazy. Just utterly demented. We cannot go on like this". Although fair enough, I had just had a strong coffee.
