Since 2022, NLT has more than doubled the amount of land under protection, closing the year with 2,275 acres. That’s incredible! We are deeply grateful to our land donors and to everyone who has given what they can to make these acquisitions for nature possible.

Thank you! NLT is fueled by our dedicated community of volunteers. Without them, none of what we do would be possible!
We are always looking for more volunteers to move our mission forward. If you are interested in joining our team of volunteers, please email us at [email protected]

Dial up "adorable"! Sterling, 8, gave a hand-written card with $25 to our Board member, Susan, this afternoon at the Laurie Lawson Outdoor Education (LLOEC). With this donation, we are now at $186,025 toward our goal of $200,000. Please help us get "over the top!"

The nature in Northumberland County is spectacular, and that is why we work so hard to protect natural spaces.

Sandhill cranes spotted at the Biddy Creek nature reserve! A work party for NLT is deep in the north part of the property clearing out garbage when they hear them. Once you have heard cranes noisily flying overhead, it is a unique sound that you won't forget. Where was my camera?!

Anne and Jim Purvis have seen many species at the Inscape nature reserve. Porcupines are a regular sight and deer are plentiful. Foxes are elusive now that coyotes are on the island. The Trent River usually freezes over so the composition of different species of mammals has changed over the years

Two Kingfishers were flying around over Percy Creek at the de Lint nature reserve. (They are not in this photo haha) They will stay around as long as they can find open water.

Get to know the creatures of Inscape Nature Reserve, which is designated as a Provincially Significant Wetland and is home to a number of species at risk. Donors Anne and Jim Purvis have heard American Bitterns and seen snapping turtles. Wetlands are nesting habitat for the Least Bittern as well.

he Laurie Lawson Outdoor Education Centre is currently undergoing restoration work because of the damage caused by the ash borer beetle. Please consider a donation to help us with this work so we can re-open the site to the public. The work, however, hasn't interrupted the routine of the locals ...

Now that cannabis is legal, illegal grow ops are being abandoned. Northumberland Land Trust inherited one when it purchased the Biddy Creek property. It had to be dismantled and removed. Thank you to our volunteers who are key to so much of the work we do to revitalize habitat. lnkd.in/gCjC8Y2R

Property steward James Stokman tried a new location and captured a Barred Owl bathing in the stream at our Munn nature reserve. Each time we capture something special like this it reminds us of the importance of NLT protecting habitat.
