Yesterday, Norway ratified the new international ocean agreement (BBNJ) at the United Nations in New York. With this, Norway takes a leading role in the global effort to protect the world’s oceans and ensure the sustainable use of marine resources.

During his visit, H.R.H. Crown Prince Haakon paid tribute to the Ukrainian soldiers — and to the families who bear the weight of war.

Their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering defense of freedom move us deeply.

Norway’s Chargé d’affaires Mr Ødegaard at yesterday’s memorial event in Lety.

The Lety Memorial is to commemorate Roma and Sinti Holocaust victims, supported by Norway Grants. The Memorial is built at the site of the concentration camp for Roma and Sinti people, where over 300 people died.

Today marks 80 years since Norway was liberated – after five years of brutal occupation. Since then, we have enjoyed a free and democratic Norway, and perhaps we have taken it somewhat for granted. Today, on Liberation and Veterans Day, we appreciate those who fought for our freedom. Thank you.

Today, we had the pleasure of meeting Georgian artist Miriam Gviniashvili and former Georgian Ambassador to Czechia, Tea Maisuradze.

Norway, Georgia, and the Czech Republic share common values, and music is an important aspect of cultural cooperation that helps connect us.

Norway will provide NOK 4 billion in funding in 2025 to the Czech-led initiative to supply Ukraine with artillery ammunition.

Norway will also provide NOK 1 billion to the European Peace Facility (EPF).

Chargé d’affaires Kristian Ødegaard met Senators Jan Schiller and Adéla Šípová from the Senate Committee on EU Affairs before their visit to Oslo this week. In today’s situation in Europe we see parliamentary cooperation between close partners and allies as crucial.

Norway's support to Ukraine is an investment in our common security. We will continue to back Ukraine’s sovereignty and freedom. Ukraine must be in the best possible position when negotiations start—and must, of course, have a seat at the table.

The people of Ukraine have resisted Russia’s full-scale war for 3 long years. Any solution must be just, lasting, and guarantee Ukraine’s full independence, sovereignty and freedom to choose its own path, now and in the future. Norway continues to #StandWithUkraine️
