We have the same problem here in Colorado: Employees can't afford to live in the towns where they work. The ski resorts are building housing but still, people wait tables in restaurants and restaurants don't want to pay enough for the employees to live, free ski pass or not.

Bullshit. We've been doing that since Reagan and look where we are: Democrats have a lower approval rating amongst Democrats than Republicans. It ain't because we want Republican policies, it's because we hate Milquetoast Democrats.

Any compensation for work, regardless of the form of payment, is taxable (this is to eliminate the CEO's tax haven of payment in stock which has no value until sold).
