Americans always put em-PHAR-sis on the wrong sy-LAB-yll

There is an old Bobcat Goldthwaite joke from the Regan era that can be repurposed for now: "blaming Donald Trump for America's chaotic policies is like blaming Ronald MacDonald for a bad cheeseburger: neither of them are running the company"

What I simply don't understand is that their key support base are flag-shagging, "blitz spirit" invoking, poppy-shaming, "two world wars and one world cup", mouth-breathers. The irony is strong with this one.

I think the bulk of the backlash was caused by him being on holiday during the fires and not coming home then following it up with a tin-eared press conference...

Clearly I should be tried in a court of law in one jurisdiction or another, not just tossed aside because it's convenient

Thought experiment: I am British by birth and Australian by naturalisation. Say I commit some heinous crime abhorrent to both jurisdictions. Does it become a race to see who can deprive me of my citizenship first? Under a lot of proposals here it would seem so. That situation would be absurd.

I was once outside a pub in Woolloomooloo NSW and Russell Crowe walked past, apparently. I didn't see him but my colleague idly mentioned it about 5 minutes later.

Spike Milligan, famously, found out later in life that he wasn't eligible for a British passport despite serving in the 2nd WW for the Royal Artillery. He needed to get Irish passport instead.

I once held a door open for an older gentleman. He didn't say a word. I harrumphed and said "thank you" sarcastically under my breath.

You are in exactly the same state of mind as I was last year with Forest. Also, I suspect, you have the same crick in your neck from the unaccustomed need to crane your neck as you need to look so far up the table for your league position. It's most disconcerting. I wish you and Villa well.

"Ill-conceived"? It's genius! It's proper, British-awkward, funny; it's started a conversation and got you to disseminate the brand further; and it will lodge with you sufficiently for you to recall the brand much later if and when you need a house pricing estimate. Job done.

Bit niche I know but Louis Gerstner was pivotal in saving IBM from a doom loop. All I will say is, if you are updating, (a) respect and (b) you must be gagging for 1st of Jan.

Don Bradman, Mel Gibson, Blinky Bill, John Howard, Dame Nellie Melba, Anthony Albanese, Slinky Malinky we have beaten them all. Dame Edna Everage, can you hear me Dame Edna? Your boys took a hell of a beating.

*The* most beautiful thing about that video is Tate's last second blink-wince where he suddenly realises he is going to get absolutely creamed

Yes, that was a documentary

Went through similar with the Melbourne Rebels - weeks or rumours. Hope you come out the other end with your team intact.

Tim Wilson wouldn't have won Goldstein back for the Libs if they'd dropped net zero before the election, and he knows it. He's going to have to twist himself like a pretzel to retain it at the next one. And Goldstein is the very definition of "ageing conservative boomer".

I'd order one right now but I'm afraid those overseas shipping costs are eye watering

It coincided with the time the First WW ex-servicemen started to die off in droves, but it's driven by the Boomers. Whilst they saw their grandparents dying they actually got a whiff of their parents mortality. As the 2WW generation started to go the Boomers really began to panic and went all in.

Absolute pet hate is being told a password must contain symbol(s) then having it blankly refused, only to then intuit "ahh, you want symbols but not THOSE symbols"
