The UK has ramped up the use of Gas to create electricity even more this morning as Wind Power fades again.

UK Wind Power has fallen to 6.6GW this morning. With 0.8GW of Solar we are burning 18.5GW of Gas as well as exporting 0.1GW. Hydro is 0.6GW. Nuclear is 2.8W and the awful Biomass 2.4GW. The price of wholesale electricity over the past 24 hours was £92 per MWh. #renewables

The Bank of England drove UK bond prices to all time highs in the Covid period because it bought so many. Now as it tries to sell them it is finding a much lower price and is thus making large losses.

The Bank of England has today sold another £775 million of its UK government bond holdings.
They were short-dated bonds maturing up to 2032 and the worst loss was around 19%. #QE #QT
