I always forget there were versions of NT before 2000; I think because they were mainly server?

that makes sense, bc that's the first OS to be in "Unicode" aka ucs2. Thanks for tracking that down! I had my decades mixed up.

That makes sense! By the 1990 comment I just mean that you wouldn't necessarily be able to use certain terms like UTF-8.

we were 3 hours delayed at DCA -> midwest and eventually canceled around that same time, and I know at least one plane that was also on the tarmac :/
