Buyer doesn't appear to live in San Diego.

SOMEBODY lived in this 4-unit San Diego apt building before it was wholly converted to Airbnb.

Operated by Fouad Bazzi, a "real estate investor" who appears to live in Chicago. His company Crescent Retreats has 42 listings on Airbnb.

Austin has almost 14,000 Airbnb listings as per insideairbnb.com

Only 2,200 short-term rental licenses have been issued.

There is no housing shortage.

Sean Boren & Carla Boren own 5 properties in San Diego, 3 of which are on Airbnb full-time, totaling 5 units.

This Airbnb duplex bought in 2021, would have made a nice set of homes. (over $300/night)

In many towns in Australia the level of greed encouraged by Airbnb means essential workers can no longer afford a home near their place of employment. It wrecks communities.

There are over 17,000 whole-home, <30 day, full-time Airbnbs in the area. 1,800 in City of LA.

A huge percentage are illegal under LA's Home Sharing Ordinance (HSO) and ordinances in other greater LA cities.

IMO, if we’re going to allow ADUs more liberally in rural areas, we need to include stricter regulations on using them for short-term rentals.

ADUs on Airbnb don’t do anything for rural housing affordability.
