the audio design was so impressive too. every scene, even when it's keeping it's cards close to the chest, is subtly trying to put as big of a pit in your stomach as possible, outside of a few climaxes where the tension just boils over. really effective stuff imo

you can make arguments for dandadan and i would def hear you out on it (science saru might deadass be the only studio that has a higher batting average than mappa in the last 10~ years (japan sinks doing some anchoring here)) but jjk pulling off the flashy and the grounded excellently is fuckin sick

regardless of how you feel about the plot or writing or whatever jujutsu kaisen continues to set the bar basically as high as possible for a battle shonen adaptation, mappa has elevated and iterated upon a story that i already fucked with to begin with & is the most visually inspiring shonen innamin

sorry for the buzzwords but the shouldve kept the stupid looking comic sans on the cover. unironically soulful

I've been itching to watch a lot of stuff from my early anime fandom days recently. Been like a literal decade since I've seen some of my favorites like bakemonogatari, sgt frog, black lagoon, one outs & wanna judge high school me and see if my taste holds up

figured i should do it now before that remake/sequel that will definitely suck ass gets announced and kills off all my motivation for a while

apparently strange fake is heavens feel timeline though so i really should get around to watching/playing that at some point (and the waver spinoff too but i wasn't expecting that to be relevant whatsoever. oops!)
