I’m still not over the fact that 1,500 traitors were pardoned in January and the whole Republican Party applauded. I’ll never get over this. For me, it’s the moment the United States was lost. In the civil war to come, that was the first shot.

Our forebearers fought and died on battlefields to protect our right to free speech from tyrants. This right is so central to the Constitution we vowed to protect that it is enshrined in the very first amendment. You will NEVER take our freedom of speech away on our watch.

If Republicans want so badly for Democrats to vote for a federal budget, why didn't they put things in the proposal that Democrats actually like? This shutdown is a failure of the GOP to think creatively, compromise and assemble a balanced approach to funding that helps the most Americans.
