Another 7 win Powered Cube draft, which included attacking two different opponents with Emrakul and Ulamog at the same time for the win. #MTGA

Watching LSV draft Flash combo over and over earlier this year was instructional (7-2).

Excited to see her again for the forth time next year! But if you can find a way to see her during the leg of her tour where @cmatbaby.bsky.social is supporting her, that’s two great shows in one night!

More live bands should have a loading bar filling up preceding their arrival on stage. #HAIM #iquit

As I’m getting tantalisingly close to my 1000 album goal I made a spreadsheet (natch) to make sure I had space to cover every remaining recommendation and a bunch of artists I wanted to get to.

I think I have 11 blank spaces left to fill.

In an unusual start to my Monday, I went to make a coffee, looked out of our kitchen window to see what I think is a Peregrine Falcon just chilling on our garden fence in Sheffield.

Dear Maxine Hall from Ballasalla, you are killing me. If you want to catch up with your friends DO LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE.

The biggest issue is going to be not wanting to eat this album like a giant orange sweet. It’s very pretty.

On January 1st I started a project listening to 1000 albums this year. I just updated my spreadsheet and I’ve listened to 799 albums and 9988 songs so far this year. When I listen to #TLOAS at 6am tomorrow, Taylor Swift will be both my 800th album of the year, and my 10,000th song.

I gave some serious thought about whether I should do this, go to a Taylor Swift launch screening on my own as a middle aged gent, but I know all the words to every bridge just like every other swiftie, so I got over myself and booked it.

Holiday Day 14.8 - maybe the best brunch we’ve had a Blackwood Bondi (strong recommend), walk through Bondi Market and sat at the beach; Catherine and her brother walked from Bondi to Cougee; I got the bus, sat by the sea and drank a beer. Quick dinner at Mama Chus Veggie and now at the airport.

Holiday Day 14 - backstage tour at Sydney Opera House, met C’s bro who just arrived, walked the botanic gardens, went to Mensho Ramen for the best Ramen I’ve had outside of Japan, she did the Harbour Bridge pylon while I watched the bay and listened to music, and dinner at Quay with fireworks tonite

With its prominently positioned shield generators, this cruise ship is dangerously susceptible to attack from a small group of X and A-Wings.

Holiday Day 13 (numbered 12 wrong above) - Sydney Harbour tour, great lunch at Noon in Manly, trip to Camp Cove, drank a beer and watched the sea, walked barefoot on the beach, got a train to Newton and had great dinner at BellyBao on King Street.

Holiday Day 11 - Melbourne morning with brunch at Industry Bean which was unbelievable; a 2 hour delay in Melbourne airport (thanks JetStar), a short flight, and then dinner at Nu’u for Oaxacan cuisine in Sydney which was super authentic.

Starting to gear up for our second season of The Between with @thebadspot.bsky.social with some light reading.

Holiday Day 11 - back in the saddle; some of the best coffee ever at Maker in Melbourne, food and hot chocolate and bag shopping at Queen Victoria Market, First Nations people cultural tour at Koorie Heritage Trust, art at NVM, dessert at KOI, and sushi to finish.

“What name is that?”
“Richard”
“OK, wait by the counter”

This is how you get new screen names and ROG character names in 2025.

“Crowns with stolen jewels wash away”. Strong words, I wouldn’t want to be in the shoes of whoever that is aimed at…

Holiday Day 10 - we hit the exhaustion wall; the combination of constant stuff, a late night multi-course wine flight, and then an unfocused ramble around Melbourne left us grumpy and tired. I did see a penguin at St Kilda Pier but it was too dark to photo so you’ll just have to take my word for it

I’m at the Banking Museum. I’m at the Gothic Specialist Hub. I’m at the combined Banking Museum and Gothic Specialist Hub.

Holiday Day 9 - Final driving day from Torquay to Melbourne via Bells Beach to watch the surfers, the chocolatier for some fancy chocolate, and Pin Oak Court to see real life Ramsey Street.
August 24, 2025 at 7:23 AM
Holiday Day 8 - Port Fairy to Torquay via a bunch of incredible nature; Tower Hill Park to see Koalas and Emus and Roos, along the coast to The Grotto in time to see whales, and my first encounter with mass crowds to annoying tourists at the 12 Apostles.
