It was part of the campaign’s larger strategy to court Nikki Haley voters. They prepped him to actively court literal GOP primary voters and that didn’t allow him to attack Vance’s ideas on a fundamental level and ironically led to him framing Vance’s ideas as reasonable

He was prepped to use his debate as a part of the campaign’s strategy to court Nikki Haley voters, thus the weak performance. The post-DNC campaign strategy of dropping all the GOP is bad & weird talk (that he popularized) to pivot to the courting of Haley voters/Cheney was really bad

Ro’s staff are either incompetent and/or actively undermining accountability by not informing him of Dem plans or Ro purposefully chose not to be there, likely to avoid pissing off Tech so he could loudly call for another vote and vote yes when it would safely fail with GOP votes.

Doesn’t pass the smell test. Your staff either failed to notify you and need to be fired or you chose not be there when your vote mattered the most to avoid pissing off Bay Area tech and so you could loudly and publicly call for another vote when you knew the GOP could safely block it
