Ran a parent workshop today with a small but mighty contingent of 7 elementary school parents. We tackled mindset, learning theory, best ways to help at home, and all 4 operations. It went extremely well! 7 mindsets shifted! Woop woop!! #iteachmath #mathmindsets

I’m using van de walle & @jbaywilliams.bsky.social’s terminology to refer to place value representations. Base ten blocks are proportional, place value discs are nonproportional.

Hey #iteachmath community... I need help. Tell me about the progression from proportional to nonproportional unit representations, specifically moving from lower grades to upper elementary grades.
