He doesn’t have perfect political instincts, he has showman and grifter instincts that are saying never take a loss, that would be worse than anything material.

The thing is his instincts have looked like good political ones since they have mostly worked for him in politics over the last 10 years.

Exactly, state legislative and electing positions get underpaid and they don’t fix it even through an available independent process because of optics concerns, while we have regular examples of people leaving office over shady things regularly, while the positions are way under-paid.

Or like, just trying as a local government to do things that benefit the people and community to minimum amounts should be normal.
