Comics are such a relief in the attention economy. As glamorous as TV/ movies seem, they've become glorified background noise. You don't have to pay attention and they continue without you. Comics on the other hand, require active engagement. They only progress if you make it so. I like it.

His hair is jaw-length and the top half is tied back, though some strands have come undone. He has upturned eyes and a moderately long nose with a slight bend in the bridge. A scar runs through his left eye leaving the pupil permanently dilated, making it appear darker than his right eye. I was talking with some artist friends IRL about this the other day.
It feels like in public, there are a lot of artists at a beginner level (good!), a bunch at a professional/experienced level, but then a HUGE gap in-between where intermediate artists used to be, and I feel it's bc of this 👇

I think it is because every single time I have seen a tutorial go viral people end up SCREAMING at the artist "how DARE you tell me how to draw?!"

Three strips of a comic. In the top panel Zoro, mid-drink, notices a Nashi pear sitting on a counter in the Going Merry kitchen. Zoro: "Woah, is that an apple or a nashi?" Sanji, working to the side: "Nashi." Zoro: "I'm takin' it, I haven't had one in ages." Sanji: "Sure, no one's dibbed it and I had no plans. Next time say please you gorilla." Zoro grabs the pear and puts it on a plate, then begins to take a kitchen knife out of its block, licking his lips and saying "awww yisss". Before he can cut into the nashi, Sanji clocks his wrist impassively with a chopping board, knocking his hand to the counter and letting the knife slip out of his grip and back into its block. Zoro starts to seethe, but Sanji remains unfazed, peeling a potato with a small knife. Zoro: "Uh, you wanna go-!?" Sanji: "If you want it cut up, just give me a sec. I'm nearly done." Zoro pauses, more confused now than angry, gesturing to himself and at the three katana by his side. Zoro: "You think... (emphasis) I... Don't know how to cut stuff?" Sanji: "Use your sword if you don't wanna wait." Zoro begins to get annoyed again, yelling "A katana is not a kitchen knife-" but Sanji cuts him off, jabbing a finger and yelling back "And a chef's knife is not a katana!"
