This sweeping intervention follows the classic authoritarian blueprint: centralize power, bypass local consent, and criminalize vulnerable populations. It’s part of a growing pattern of abuse of power that uses fear to justify surveillance and policing of communities of color.

This isn’t about safety. It is about expanding surveillance and militarized policing under the guise of order. Historically, similar moves disproportionately target BIPOC and marginalized communities, deepening mistrust and eroding autonomy.
