England seemed to him to be nothing but horrors and misery now. The very shapes of the trees were like frozen screams.

Everything is awful and we all feel pretty helpless, but here are some songs to hide within during the autumn of 2025.

I'm like a fish watching a wriggling worm.

I met him in my record shop days. He was incredibly grumpy and arrogant.

'No, no, no, I specifically ordered a CAB, not a... oh, nevermind, can you just get me to the station, please.'
A labrador sat at the wheel of a car.

Terrible/brilliant album covers. Steeleye Span - Rocket Cottage.
The cover of a 1976 folk album featuring a space rocket partially made out of an English tutor cottage.

It's such a gamble every week. The consistency of some baffles me.

Fair enough. It was a joy listening to it whilst stoned in the old days.

That's a long way from Birmingham. Was he legit?

#NowPlaying This will definitely be in my top 5. A brilliant debut that sounds quite unlike any other UK band of the time. How they went from this to their later barbecue reggae hate crimes of the mid-80s still baffles and disappoints me.
UB40 - Signing Off (Graduate Records 1980).

Yeah, me too. I go to ASDA for a few bits these days and it costs me £45 or whatever. I already have more than enough records to see me through to death.

My local has introduced four £5 crates. I found a lovely copy of an Neil Young album and asked what was wrong with it. 'I've just got too many copies'.

It's just so full of life and imagination.

As a Liverpool fan of 43 years, I think they have behaved in a very un-Liverpool way this summer. Yes, spend some money if it's available, but they seem to have gone nuts. The loss of Jota has also probably caused untold problems for some of the players. Top 4, FA Cup & a good run in Europe is fine.

Agreed, although it appears that Szoboszlai is Liverpool's best right-back!

Things can turn around very quickly.

I picked Wirtz AND Salah! An utter disaster.
