I would tend to agree if the wealth created by replacing humans with AIs was redistributed to satisfy everyone's basic needs. In practice, I'm afraid those replaced will struggle to just survive. Also, I just don't know how to enforce the 'harmlessly' part

But even in these terms, it may be detrimental in the mid-long term - if in 20 years AIs become terrible because their training data is too corrupted by poor quality AI-generated data after we outsourced all the thinking to them, we'd lose decades rebuilding these skills in humans

Not sure it is always desirable though - that simple analysis / code that you don't want to spend time on can be a valuable learning experience for an undergrad. If we automate all the low-level tasks for them, how will the next generation of scientists know how to evaluate the outputs of AIs?
