Was pleased to get my first self-found Garganey this morning (4 of them!) (Bubbenhall) but too distant for photo. Also lovely looking female Smew (Bubbenhall) and a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker (RSPB Middleton Lakes) after work, my first in quite a few years @westmidbirdclub.bsky.social

Great day out in Cornwall yesterday with @pringlebirder.bsky.social & Darren. 77 species seen including Booted Eagle & Common Sandpiper at Marazion, Black Redstart & Spoonbill at Hayle, 3 Ring-necked Duck at Dozmary, Green Sandpiper & Green-winged Teal at Treraven @cbwps.org.uk #ukbirding

A 5-day break to Poland with the family produced 37 species. 3 lifers for me were Black Woodpecker, Crested Tit & Short-toed Treecreeper. 5 Dipper together were nice to see. Also the very localised Tatra Chamois high up on the mountains!

A return visit to Broadsands after work today had the Scoter flock from Monday a little closer and so as able to pick out the Surf Scoter this time. Not much rise on the water but a Firecrest and 2 Cirl Bunting in the car park #ukbirding #devonbirding

A nice pit stop at Broadsands en route to Plymouth for work produced at least 14 Cirl Bunting, Black-throated Diver, 3 GNDiver, Red-necked Grebe & a small raft of Scoter (too distant to see if anything unusual with them) #ukbirding

A lunchtime walk around some local fields today produced 3 more year ticks - Feral Pigeon (5), Yellowhammer (3), Sparrowhawk (1). The large finch flock that was there in the fog last weekend had virtually disappeared but 12 Greenfinch was nice to see

A cold and foggy walk around the fields near Blunsdon produced a whopping 67 Red-legged Partridge. Also my first Snipe and Jay of the year #ukbirding

Finally got my first Barn Owl of the year this morning, and nice it was a patch tick too! The clear highlight of a short visit to Tadpole which also included a fly Siskin and 3 Raven #ukbirding

Great day out in Norfolk yesterday with 89 species seen including 4 year ticks - Tundra Bean Goose, Hume's Warbler, Shore Lark & Red-Necked Grebe #ukbirding
