American emergency services needs a mental health services option- Police get sent to people who really need a social worker.

A problem I’m grappling with is how to create a generation of people willing to work towards a better America out of a generation of people who grew up keenly aware of all of the bad stuff America has done and left us to sort through. (1/1)

Legislate trans people out of polite society and then blame them for not existing politely in society.

Ignore the science that says trans healthcare increases quality of life for trans people and then blame them for having lower quality of life. (1/2)

I can’t see any reason why you shouldn’t need a law degree to be a judge.
Judges for low-level courts probably don’t get payed enough to justify a law degree.
Lawmakers don’t make enough and often have second jobs.
Congress and the senate don’t make enough to disincentivize corruption. 1/2

One of the problems with the American AI conglomerate is that it can’t reasonably be stopped and it probably also shouldn’t be. If a program is smarter than anybody at a specific thing then it will monopolize that field, we’ve seen this happen with chess. (Thread/x)

One good thing about government is that it can, in some cases, act as if it is entirely selfless- although I’m not certain that anything mortal truly can

The current problem with the phrase gender affirming care is that your run-of-the-mill right winger hears it and mostly just thinks about bottom surgery-which is wildly expensive- and I only know of one or two that have gotten it out of about 100 that I’ve been in contact with.

1. A landmark study was just published in The Journal of Pediatrics.

It found a 68% reduction in suicidality for trans youth getting HRT.

It also found only 7 of more than 400 stopped taking HRT... and of those that did, 4 still identified as gender-diverse.

Transgender care saves lives.
Study In The Journal Of Pediatrics Finds Trans Youth Care Lowers Suicidality, Few Detransition
The groundbreaking study found that suicidality dropped for transgender youth receiving hormone therapy by nearly 70%, with only 7 patients of 432 discontinuing treatment.
