Update on Mom: she’s a little worse tonight. Her hemoglobin is still dropping, which means the GI bleed hasn’t let up like we hoped. They want to scope to find it, but she is septic, & has a kidney infection, so she’s scared. The plan was to go home tomorrow but we might have to extend the stay.

Update on my Mom. She’s sounding better but still extremely weak. Has a few infections (including sepsis) and a very large kidney stone. They moved her from ICU to med/surgery ward. However, when they took her down there we found out that she’s supposed to be in isolation for possible c-diff.

Mom feeling a bit better. She had surgery in the middle of the night because she had a 9mm kidney stone causing a lot of pain. She also turned septic at some point last night. GI hasn’t done scopes to find bleed bc of the other issues. She’s mostly stable but will stay in the icu for a while yet

Finally got around to watching The Wild Robot and I’m not crying. I’m not crying at all. Excellent movie. Would make a great robot tearjerker with The Iron Giant.

Being in a small town that might not even get the movie (we have 3 screens) showing me the trailer for Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale before two different movies is cruel. Not that anyone I know that lives near me likes the show anyway lol

Our daughter got her first tattoo this morning. It’s the title of a Taylor Swift song, and if you know us you know much it means to us. (Totally not tearing up)

After being in the ER for 10 hours yesterday, I’m glad that I got to sleep in my own bed. My shoulder is screaming bloody murder, I think it’s gonna be a pain pill & some leaf 🍃 🌬️ kinda day.

My CT was clear and I was able to walk around the ER without oxygen and keeep my O2 stat in the low 90s. I have to follow up with primary care, sports medicine, and keep my PT appt for Wed. Most importantly, I am now home and have food!

Dr was in and my shoulder is still busted, but looks like it is healing. My O2 has been low, but lungs sound fine. So now I’m getting a chest CT to look for clots.

I’ve been watching a lot of the Hammer horror flicks from the late 59s and 60s. It’s funny, as a kid I always preferred the Dracula flicks with Christopher Lee, but now I think I prefer Peter Cushing’s anti-hero Frankenstein.

It’s been almost three months since I fell and broke my arm and messed up my shoulder, and I’m still waiting for answers. This really sucks.
