Saving the world by chasing nukes…

Liberal as fuck. LGBTQIA friendly.

Be nice or get blocked.

Matthew chapter 25 is my favorite.
That dog is likely a Skye. Cairns are much smaller. Toto in the Wizard of Oz was a Cairn.

Their pension is 1% of the average of their highest 3 years of pay for every year of service.

MTG is eligible for a deferred pension of $8,700/year when she is 62. That is 5% of her current salary. She will have served 5 years in Congress when she quits.

@randyrainbow.bsky.social is a national treasure. I saw him live a couple of years ago and he’s simply brilliant. I wish I was his neighbor.

He looks so much like one to me. Is he long and low to the ground? Please give him a treato from me.

What a gorgeous Skye!! 😍

I think he’s a Skye Terrier

My Skye terrier was like this. She had the patience of Job and would wait for you to leave to eat food you’d left out. She once ate an entire stick of butter off the butter dish on the dinner table when we accidentally left it out uncovered.

Her unit was deployed to DC to do this duty. When you get orders to deploy, you can’t elect to not go. It’s no different than being deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan, it just happens to be here in the US. She was on military orders as part of the national guard. She would have been AWOL if absent.

I’m convinced Russia and China are playing the long game with this anti-vax propaganda. Their long-term plans will work in areas with low vaccinations someday. It’s a damn shame.

I don’t believe so. Federal civilians are granted health care benefits in retirement but she’s not retired at this point. She’s separating with a deferred pension. She’s only 51 years old and doesn’t qualify for retirement yet.
November 23, 2025 at 12:43 PM
Sorry you’re so mad about it. This has always been the rule and until the early 1980s, the benefits were even more generous.

Glad you found an amazing union job to take care of your family. The janitors at GM made more than my dad did as a math teacher when my parents were first married.

They are under the same FERS rules we are.
November 22, 2025 at 11:31 PM
Federal civilians do. All of us.

Maybe be pissed that your employer cheaper out and opted for a 401k for you rather than a pension.

You’re welcome to apply to the civil service.

Unless Congress accrues at a higher rate than the rest of us peasants, it’s 1% per year, so 5% of high three total. I was thinking just under $9k/ year for pension.
November 22, 2025 at 8:43 PM
Yes. Every year.

Sunscreen every day on your face, décolletage, back of your hands, esp for the ladies. Hands tell your age more than anything because the skin is so thin.

Chemist here (of the radio variety)…this is so freaking cool.
November 22, 2025 at 8:39 PM
I’m a federal civilian. I don’t think she qualifies for insurance. She’s not of retirement age. She’s only 51. There are rules about this stuff and I don’t think she qualifies.
November 22, 2025 at 7:33 PM
I don’t disagree with that, but that’s not her government pension and it’s not government health insurance. Stock trading is wholly separate from anything provided by the government.
November 22, 2025 at 7:05 PM
If $8700/year is set for life…I’d love to live where you live.
November 22, 2025 at 6:50 PM
CSRS was the pension system that ended in the early 80’s. MTG is under FERS. She gets 1% of her average highest 3 years of salary for each year of service, so 5% @ 5 years. She can’t collect until she’s 60 or 65 if she claims a deferred pension. Whoever said about $8K is correct.
November 22, 2025 at 3:01 PM
What pension?
November 22, 2025 at 2:59 PM
Don’t forget that our taxes subsidize large corporations that have no need for subsidies. More so than help feed hungry junkies. I’m with the junkies here. Not sorry.

I’m hoping that because hundreds of people had access to these files during the scrub that there are pristine copies all over the place that people have saved.
