It's very hard to convince a horrible person to be less horrible. It's much easier to convince a neutral or decent person to continue to be neutral or decent. Republicans in congress are horrible people.

They think life is a game of Civ or Rome Total War.

When GDP is the only thing they look at, they lose the plot quickly.

Perhaps that's true - this administration does not believe in legislating maternity leave or time for women to pump milk so it's not really helping their values come to fruition. Maybe they should look at the barriers THEY create instead of blaming the individual for our societal ills?

I would argue that those disillusioned with the two party system see swift destruction under Repubs and slow destruction under Dems. Repubs bring about negative changes within a decade. Dems *kinda* stabilize things juuuust below where they were before, but it's not enough to inspire voters.

They are simply asking for more than two options.

Anytime a story comes out about how easy it was to solve a crime due to online searches or purchases I'm reminded that those methods never seem to be used to arrest the rich and powerful and they all seem to be in a technological black hole.
