I thought you bought a dashcam :(

anyway, you should ask them what grounds they have to arrest you if this happens again
January 31, 2026 at 6:02 PM
I don't know what you're saying. but here's another data point: only 12% of Americans who were shown the Sydney Sweeney jeans ad said it was offensive:

imagine what would have happened if someone here tried to argue it wasn't offensive.

why? few people on BSky identify as liberal. if given a choice between "very liberal" and "liberal" (the only options left of center), BSkyers would pick "very liberal." which is 9% of Americans - exactly what I originally said (<10%).
January 24, 2026 at 4:07 AM
I meant progressives. in any case, there is a poll that addresses this:
today.yougov.com/politics/art...
given a choice between liberal and very liberal, 9% of Americans identify as "very liberal" (i.e. BSky); 17% identify as liberal. (the question about left is more vague, could include liberals)
'Liberal', 'left,' 'conservative,' and 'right': Americans identify their ideology | YouGov
Americans mostly view "liberal" and "left" and "conservative" and "right" as synonyms.

The debate on BSky ranges from the far-left to the progressive left. that represents <10% of the American population.

I mean, factional debates within the left have long been a thing

I didn't see your post, and now it looks like I plagiarized it. oops. but yeah, there does seem to be epidemiological evidence that diet soda consumption may be associated with reductions in kidney function. and diet cola consumption may be associated with kidney stone formation.
January 23, 2026 at 1:10 AM
I really think this is due to diet soda satisfying a sweet tooth. I say this as someone with a sweet tooth.

I do not think headlines suggesting diet soda may be healthier than water are responsible b/c this study didn't look at, say, kidney health, where diet cola/soda may pose a risk
January 23, 2026 at 1:07 AM
a scammer did actually do that to me, which motivated me to get a dashcam. I really do recommend that everyone get a dashcam. but yeah, I do not believe ICE's claim. e.g.:
bsky.app/profile/laur...

someone should collect these videos of ICE driving recklessly, causing accidents, and then lying
Immigration agents crashed into a U.S. citizen on her way to work—then dragged her out of her car and arrested her.

Her family couldn’t find her for hours.
She was later released without charges.

I had an asthma attack when exposed to cleaning chemicals while wearing an N95 (at a grocery store). you really need a full-face respirator with organic vapor cartridges if you're going to be exposed to tear gas
January 22, 2026 at 3:12 AM
yes, that cartridge filters organic vapor (i.e. tear gas), but N95 cartridges (particulate, not vapor) do not:

some much-needed good news would be welcome. hopefully, the ruling comes down tomorrow and forces Trump to retreat on Greenland, given that he's been trying to effectuate Greenland annexation by imposing crazy tariffs on the EU
January 20, 2026 at 7:23 AM
do you have any idea how SCOTUS will rule on Trump's tariffs?
January 20, 2026 at 6:35 AM
the Democratic Party needs to organize and create a depot where folks can easily upload this stuff. (this is not that, I'm afraid: auto-archiver.readthedocs.io/en/latest/in... )

I'm frustrated by how disorganized these ICE watches are. I've been unable to convince Will Stancil he needs a dashcam!

it's really good for wheelchair users too. it was the best compact car on the US market for wheelchair users.
January 18, 2026 at 6:57 AM
right, and anyone trying this in other neighborhoods/cities to force out ICE needs to do this too. start crowdfunding it! record everything. videos are disproving everything ICE claims. we need videos!

The issue is the tailgating: "(a) The driver of a motor vehicle shall not follow another vehicle more closely than is reasonable and prudent"
www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/cit...

My dashcam was only $100. I'm sure you can crowdfund a better one:

you really need to get a dashcam, so everything you do is automatically recorded. in theory, you can get arrested for tailgating (reckless driving). you have to leave a certain amount of space for safety. so you need a dashcam both to record them and what you've been doing.
January 17, 2026 at 8:15 PM
also as a long-term solution to alerting neighborhoods about ICE's presence, honking is suboptimal. it takes away your hand and attention. you need to have speakers that broadcast on a loop "alert: vehicle in front is ICE."
January 17, 2026 at 8:38 AM
you need to get a dashcam. I'm sure you could crowdfund it. mine was only $100 (Wirecutter's budget pick).

Do you mean I should leave my comment that's been "awaiting moderation" for 3 days as is and then submit another very similar comment? thanks!

It's now been 3 days, and it's still "awaiting moderation." :/

a small boat with 11 people on it and little to no cargo is not a drug boat. these were migrants:

which of course makes this even worse.

I have to say, I'm really not enjoying that BOTH of my countries are basically proudly announcing, "we're doing war crimes." very grim.
December 2, 2025 at 4:56 AM
it's really not. the most common outcome of contracting measles is immune amnesia, which makes the kids more susceptible to infection. and even if some kids with dumb parents end up dying, I think it's perverse to call that "self-correcting"

not when the judge claims the Campaign Legal Center is "a Soros funded group," despite that Open Society last gave CLC $200k in 2020. meanwhile, Buffett's kid and the Ford Foundation have given millions more recently.
