If u want a quick burst of tannins just use the water thats been boiled or if you want more long-term, u can place the boiled caps inside the tank and they will release tannins overtime (they last abt a month!) ^^

collect the caps off acorns (only use the caps, how many depends on the size of the tank, but a little goes a long ways) & boil them in plain water for ~five minutes to neutralize & soften
