The day job has been very full on this semester & this was the end of a very intensive block course looking at family & community health in NZ with a cohort of great health professionals from a range of disciplines - it’s a good feeling when months of planning comes together in a course. #academic

Update on my #WW1 nurse death certs research - almost finished downloading, I do a bunch squeezed in around regular academic and home stuff. Some have been challenging to find even though army records give date & location of death in NZ - I’m not reading any until I’ve got them all!

Thank you - 2 nurses in my data base are known to have committed suicide, reported as such in the news at the time. I’m looking forward to getting into them 🙂

Finally have be granted a small amount of research funds to close the loop in my #HistNursing research to obtain death certificates on the 100 or so WW1 nurses who died prematurely post service to connect dots between service, illness and death. #NZANS #research #nursinghistory

There’s so much more I want to see but run out of time. On the last day I’m visiting groppe’s icecream shop in Cairo which was much loved by the WW1 nurses. It’s still in existence!

Currently in Alexandria trying to visualise what is was like for the WW1 nurses & hospitals. It’s been challenging trying to locate places but at least I’m seeing some of same views

Alexandria Harbour - the big ship port as used in WW1 is behind the distance buildings.
