Furthermore sans serif fonts create a security vulnerability due to the similarity of certain characters (most notably I and l) which makes it easier to spoof things like urls.

TLDR: there was a study that suggested on average sans serif fonts (though not Calibiri) were very slightly easier to read than serif fonts. However that same study showed that the easiest font to read was Courier (a monospaced serif font), so if accessibility was the goal they would switch to that.

Anyway, this is what I was referring to.

With the news that the State Department is going back to Times New Roman, calling the move to Calibri a "wasteful diversity move", reupping this. With an administration this bad it's important to highlight the few good things they do.

Save the Serifs
Warning, this post is going to be about one of the most boring topics possible, font choice. The Washington Post reports the State Department has ordered a shift in font choice from Times New Roman…

Umm, did you read this study? It shows Times New Roman outperformed Calibiri.

There was a study awhile ago that suggested that on average, sans serif fonts were very slightly easier for dyslexics to read on what would by today's standards be fairly low resolution monitors.

Except the font it actually found was easiest to read was Courier, a monospace serif font.

I wondered what Calvin's Dad was up to these days.

I mean this "controversy" is just the reversal of a Biden "controversy" from a few years ago. They were claiming the font used by the State Department was hard to read by people with dyslexia (it's not).

If you think Tapper or CNN in general has avoided any discussion on Trump's fitness to be president you are not a serious person.

Sans serif fonts suck and the claim they are more accessible is pseudoscience bullshit.

Sans serif fonts are crap and the state department's decision to switch to them was rooted in pseudoscience bullshit.

I've heard of looking at history with rose tinted glasses but if yours make Windows fucking 98 look good, you need a new prescription.

You can think "more jobs available" would be good for the country even if you aren't personally looking looking for a job.

It was cheap relative a sit down restaurant. It was never cheap relative to eating a bag lunch.

But to win them over you can't just convince them that the other candidate is bad. You have to convince them that your candidate is good.

Also that's about the same as his support is among Republicans as a whole.

There are no legitimate questions about the election. The ones that were raised were all proven to be bullshit.

Tylenol results in a few hundred deaths a year. Out of the around hundred thousand people who die of drug overdoses each year, that's a rounding error.

You are objectively and unambiguously wrong.
December 9, 2025 at 5:24 PM
Overdoses and deaths are not the same thing.

And I never said there were tons of girls ODing on testosterone. In fact I specifically said this was a bad policy take and that the people ODing on steroids are athletes.

But for some weird reason you want to make everything about transgender people.
