#SpecialEducation is NOT exclusively #Tier 3 in the PBIS framework. Students with IEPs access ALL tiers of support in alignment with their IEP goals. Students who do not have an IEP ALSO access ALL tiers of support. In PBIS educators match supports to needs, regardless of IEP status.

Behavior Specific Praise (BSP) is FREE and POWERFUL! Using BSP to "catch" kids doing the right thing also helps us reduce those cortisol spikes! Instead of saying, "NO", try praising the behavior you want to see in others (praise arounds). Thank you @MidwestPBIS

Function-based assessments help educators develop complete, student-centered behavior support plans (BSPs). Effective BSPs describe support along the entire behavioral chain. They are heavily preventative & instructional, and built around student strengths. #FBA #BSP #BIP

Office referrals are only helpful if they actually reflect the lived experience of teachers, and staff are in agreement about which behaviors do and do not call for a referral.
