Labor love runs in the family.

Our Executive Director, Meghann Burke, and her brother helped kick off the “It’s Better in a Union” bus tour today at the AFL-CIO Executive Council meeting in D.C.—because union pride runs deep in the family.

🚨The 2026 Free Agency Window is officially open.

Thanks to the current CBA, every NWSL player becomes a free agent at the end of their contract—no more thresholds, no more waiting.

This is the freedom players fought for: real mobility and a window aligned with the global game.

It’s the Mid-Season Break—a hard-fought CBA victory by players.

No training. Just rest.

Here’s how some of your favorite players are caring for their mental health along the way.

Michele Vasconcelos left the Utah Royals to join Levante Badalona of Spain’s Liga F.

Players have not been paid for the month of May, and the club was 5 days late in other payments.

While the NWSL has made progress, “it was the result of players uniting, speaking out, and demanding better.”

Over the past eight years as a professional soccer player, I've witnessed tremendous growth and transformation within the sport. In the NWSL, we've seen meaningful improvements in working conditions, enhanced player protections, and significant progress in compensation. None of that progress happened by accident - it was the result of players uniting, speaking out, and demanding better.
If there's one lesson I've learned from those who came before me, it's this: silence does not create change. Progress only comes when we refuse to accept the unacceptable.
Today, I find myself in a situation I can't stay silent about. At my current club, Levante Badalona FC, players are not being paid. Earlier this year, when payments were delayed twice before I arrived, the team came together and went on strike - a powerful act of solidarity that forced the club to respond quickly. But now, with the season concluded, the club has failed to pay 10 players for the month of May and was five days late in paying others.
This is not just disappointing - it is outrageous. In 2025, in the top division of professional women's football in Spain - La Liga, the home of the reigning World Cup champions - players are still being denied their most basic right: to be paid for their work.
This cannot continue. We need accountability. We need structural change. And we need it now.
