Last year's Pioneer wildfire burned a lot of the forest that protected Stehekin from slides like this. Roads are gone, the water treatment plant is gone. Lots of homes are gone. www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2F_...

WSDOT: US 97 will remain closed between mp 149 and 178 through Weds Sept 24. Fire crews will be back burning, falling trees and removing debris. Conditions will be reassessed on Thursday, but there is a red flag warning forecast for later this week. There is no estimated time to reopen Blewett Pass.
