Always remember, every benefit the working class have got has come through struggle. The tories have fought against any benefit for us and will always do so because it's in their DNA.
"Climb down", what climb down? If you think trump gives a crap about UK/NATO casualties you're deluded. He thrives on being nasty and any retreat from his nastiness is written by the sycophants surrounding him and he begrudgingly utters the words. He's an immoral narcissist and farage's poster boy

As a proud Manc & Labour member for 40 yrs my advice to Andy is tell them you're not interested in moving to a westminster/London Labour party quadmire run by spads who would thwart any ambitions to replicate what you've achieved here in Gtr Mcr. PS given the current polls we might not hold the seat
January 23, 2026 at 4:51 PM
Didn't Farage tell ex-UKIP/Brexit members to join the tories and get rid of MPs with a functioning brain? His success left the tories with the likes of Gullis/Jenkins/Jenrick etc so his dream of destroying them has come to fruition. I detest him but he's become the fascist we should all most fear

Surely the question to americans should be "why can you only be spoken at by your president" cos let's face it, unless it's a question he's comfortable with the person asking it gets threatened with the loss of their job. Welcome to fascism

I despair at the (lack of) intelligence people like Lyons publicly display all too often. Surely someone in Starmer's management team can tell him that his reputation diminishes each day because of idiotic statements that, whether or not he acknowledges it, are attributed to him.
January 9, 2026 at 11:05 AM
Ron, here in the UK it seems the US is run by a crime family governing by their own self-serving laws & making $Bs in cosy deals with anyone, regardless of the cost to ordinary americans. Please tell us that there is actual evidence of some Republican law makers growing some balls & turning on Trump

We spent so long laughing at what we saw as a bunch of right wing loonies we took our eye off the very "smart" people behind them. We're now facing the real prospect of an elected fascist government in the UK. The political left need urgently to identify a leader to take the fight to them, but who?
January 7, 2026 at 10:56 AM
Jim, perhaps your newspaper could also ask the Govt if there are any current investigations into links between MPs/ex-MPs/Members of the HofL and the Russian state. Everyone accepts Russia has been interfering in democratic elections so surely any UK citizens helping them should face scrutiny.

As a Lab Party member for over 45 years I believe our leadership is far too timid. The original brexit remain campaign was useless so every pro rejoin MP, in every interview, must point out the benefits of at least rejoining the single market. Billions of £s pouring into the UK is surely good news.

Who says the colours are an accident? Reform are obviously happy to take the money off the fools who support them, but, we shouldn't underestimate their intention in giving those fools their own political identity. Watch the "pride" Hitler's blackshirts had when marching in 1930's Germany

I'm from the UK & this is the 1st time I've seen one of your posts. It was a pleasure to listen to passion from a "left wing" politician who is prepared to challenge the status quo where those who are supposed to have socialist beliefs, Labour/Democrats, bend their knee to corporate vested interests
November 25, 2025 at 9:02 PM
This might be a bit "out there" but if there is any suspicion that a prominent UK citizen, say an MP, has been spouting propaganda paid for by a foreign state shouldn't our security services be doing the investigating? It's as if we can't depend on MI5/MI6 to protect us from an enemy!
November 24, 2025 at 4:53 PM
Just listened to Zack Polanski on Newsnight & I remember (with envy) when the Labour Party had politicians with fire in their bellies. Our leaders seriously need to consider our political direction because the current path will result in us having less MPs than even the tories at the next election.
November 19, 2025 at 9:55 AM
The Labour leadership has moved so far to the right to appease these vultures it's no wonder we're losing members and support to the Greens, Lib Dems, nationalists and, God forbid, the fascist right led by reform. Too many Labour MPs have their snouts in the trough and the electorate can see it.
November 14, 2025 at 3:31 PM
It seems the useless idiots who advised Ed Milliband & led us to disaster are still around Starmer. They have no knowledge of what the Labour party used to stand for, or indeed what it needs to do to re-energise it's old & diminishing members. Even more crucially the need to recruit some young blood
November 12, 2025 at 1:14 PM
What's the point of replacing him with another lackey to the "corporate rich". Private Eye used to expose the ties between the tories & big business. Now it exposes the links between Labour & those same businesses. Blair got what he wanted, the democratic party of the UK with a few token socialists
November 12, 2025 at 1:07 PM
Only 16% of Labour Party members could be arsed voting in our Dep leader contest. If this obvious disillusionment doesn't tell Starmer/Reeves et al that their leadership of our movement will to lead to our oblivion then nothing will. Little wonder the Greens are picking up our members and support.

Sadly this is another example of how people in power manage to convince otherwise "ordinary" people to hate other "ordinary" people that they are their enemy. You'd think that by now we "ordinary" humans would have the sense to know when we're being manipulated to keep those in power in power.
October 2, 2025 at 3:52 PM
Your observations are so true. WTF is Milburn, a paid advocate for private health, doing providing "advice & support" to Streeting. Mandelson was a slimeball (see OED for definition) under Blair so no change there. Countless spads from firms after govt. contracts. Yet I'm still a Labour member, why?
September 11, 2025 at 11:50 AM
The problem with remaining in Labour is that we get tarred with the same brush being used to silence the left in our party. What concerns me is that 2 years ago Private Eye was exposing cronyism between the tories & their backers/friends. Now I read about the very same cronyism from the Labour party
July 29, 2025 at 12:19 PM
Ron, having read most of the responses to your post I think we can safely agree that as far as the majority of level headed brits are concerned trump should remain America's problem for now, but the best of luck getting rid of him and his fascist supporters in 2028.
July 29, 2025 at 12:09 PM
Having watched the full programme I'm even more scared for the future of the US. Some of those young conservatives/fascists will undoubtably end up in positions of influence and God help the poor unfortunates who they with target their hatred at.
July 22, 2025 at 3:58 PM
Fully agree that the improvements we're implementing are good government. However, Reeves has just reinstated most winter fuel allowances but it begger's belief that it was removed in the first place. To their shame Starmer/Reeves ignored the left of our party when putting the budget plans together.
