sea of weeds #skiptoloafer
a digital sketch about nao-chan from skip to loafer. it depicts a surface filled with weeds, and nao-chan's younger self's legs stepping through them. there is a text that writes: there, there it lies (the sea of weeds) you always come back to the little edge in town back to the sea of weeds a black box filled with vertical scribbled lines. in the center is a human-shaped figure, depicted through a blank space. the text continues: everywhere else always has something to ask, something to tell, something to take sea waves and weeds flying through the air from a high angle illustrate the page. on top of it, the text continues once more: but here, the weeds dance with the winds and the waves sigh against the shores the last page is divided into three sections. the first section features young nao-chan walking through weeds and grass, captured in a long shot. the text writes: and they do not ask they do not tell they do not take the second depicts young nao-chan crying, one hand covering her face and the other gripping her school uniform. the text continues: there is nothing further to know than to know it is simply here (to know you are simply here.) lastly, the comic concludes with an imitation of a scene from skip to loafer chapter 29, when nao-chan sits on a sea of weeds with the sea stretching before her. this time, she looks ahead at the view, two birds flying in the sky. the text finishes as such: and so you come back to this little edge of town back to the sea of weeds.

a digital sketch based on chapter 205, the end of the challengers match between taichi and arata. arata, tearing up, holds onto taichi's shoulder as he says "you played karuta with me all this time despite... how could i ever think of you as a hindrance???" taichi is also teary eyed at this. chihaya is crying as well, positioned on her knees as she observes the scene. this trio makes me cry a page of various digital sketches! in the center is inokuma and shinobu, based off the queen challenger match. there is a namida doodle on the left, as well as a sakurazawa and inokuma sketch based on the post above. on the right lies a semi-chibi chihaya - she's got her hair in a half-up style; is wearing flower earrings and a simple necklace; and dons on a shoulder-less sleeved top.

I wanted to make a Marie Kim centric piece revolving around the phrase 'walking on eggshells' in regards of the abuse she has suffered.
