spend less time on social media altogether, zero time at all on twitter (I just deactivated my burner account) and more time raising my son and doing things I enjoy :)

I'm sorry to everyone who will be inevitably disappointed by this announcement. At least we still have Nintendo Today and YouTube for Nintendo News.

You may wonder why I don't automate the process in some way to keep the account going in my absence. The reason is Elon made the API for fetching tweets very expensive. Furthermore, the process simply requires more than just copy/paste. I do a fair amount of editing to get some posts to fit here.

It saddens me to think Nintendo may never come here officially. Kit and Krysta said it themselves, it was difficult enough to convince them to come to the really big social media platforms. They're old-fashioned like that. But I can't keep doing this forever, being an unpaid representative for them.

You may have also noticed I'm slipping here and there. Important or time-sensitive posts won't get their Bluesky counterpart for many hours, sometimes days, and I'll skip some posts altogether. As I mentioned, I'm a parent now, and I've taken on more hours at work. I'm busier now than I was in 2023.

I will always love aspects of Nintendo. Their characters, their games both new and old, their stories and worlds and music and level design, their unique approach to both hardware and software/UI design. I'm not a Nintendo hater now, I promise. I just feel that it's time for me to move on.

Another big reason is that I've simply become disinterested with Nintendo. I can't relate to the hype for new games in my own reply section. I don't own a Switch 2 and I barely touch my Switch OLED. It's also gotten harder to support them in the wake of many anti-consumer decisions from the company.

On a lesser level of complaint, I do still receive a lot of hate mail on here from people thinking I'm responsible for Switch 2 pricing or Game Key Cards or Palworld's legal troubles or what-have-you, and it does get exhausting. But if it were that issue alone, I could continue on with this account.

Unfortunately, over the years I've lost my passion for running this account. Twitter is still a cesspool of cruelty that even Nintendo's reply section isn't immune to. Just opening the app to check notifs will often suck me in to addictively scroll through the most toxic For-You page I've ever had.

I've been operating the account as the closest-to-official Nintendo entity here since Bluesky was still invite-only back in 2023. Since then, I became a parent, the Switch 2 was announced and launched, and this account has grown bigger than I ever imagined thanks to all of you.

i really want to know what that last sentence means. we can already use jam tracks in battle royale and lego modes; what else could they possibly have planned?

yeah the visuals, soundtrack and general concept of a living computer world have always been the main draw of the franchise, not the plot. but now us Tron fans have to wrestle with the fact there's a known creep as the main star of this one. i feel bad paying to see it. might just wait for streaming
