Dear friends, We want to begin by once again thanking you from the bottom of our hearts. Your support is what continues to make the work of the Khartoum Aid Kitchen initiative possible. Thanks to your generosity, we've managed to carry out important rehabilitation work on the Omdurman Teaching Hospital. This has more than doubled its patient capacity during a time when over 80% of Khartoum’s healthcare facilities have ceased operations due to the war. We’re also proud to share that we've managed to rehabilitate the centre of the Sudanese Association for the Blind, allowing the association to return its evacuated members back to Khartoum. In May, a devastating cholera outbreak shook the city of Khartoum, with over 8,500 suspected cases reported. Hospitals overflowed and turned away patients for lack of space. Concerningly, IV fluids, which are essential for treatment, became scarce. In response, the Khartoum Aid Kitchen stepped in to supply IV fluid drips, enabling the El Fetihab isolation centre in Omdurman to provide life saving treatment. Additionally, our voluntary return journeys continue, with the Khartoum Aid Kitchen now running the largest return journey operation in Sudan. We've safely returned displaced families to their homes in Khartoum and Gezira state, offering them a chance to rebuild after long months of displacement. Every act of kindness, whether by donating or sharing our initiatives work, has made these efforts possible. There’s more work to be done, and your continued support allows us to keep going. December Month of Action for Xinachtli Texas is killing Xinachtli Read and join us in taking action to prevent another revolutionary elder from dying in prison What's happening Xinachtli (Alvaro Hernandez) is a 73 year old Chicano revolutionary organizer who has survived 23 years of solitary confinement under the Texas carceral system. Today, his health has collapsed under the weight of state violence: rapid weight loss, multiple falls, severe mobility issues, and increasing difficulty breathing. He is being held in the McConnell Unit infirmary under so-called palliative care, yet denied real medical treatment, denied diagnosis, and denied access to his own medical records. During his time in the infirmary, prison staff threw away his belongings, "lost" his commissary card, and have intentionally given him incorrect forms to obstruct medical visitations and access to care. Xinachtli is hungry, isolated, and his health is rapidly declining. the state has made it clear that they intend to let him die. What you can do no. 1: phone and email blast Call the McConnell to demand they give X access to commissary and his medical records immediately: McConnell Unit: (361)362-2300 Call TDCJ Health Services to demand X receive his medical records and get transferred to a hospital for treatment IMMEDIATELY. TDCJ health services: (936)437-4271 Call or email TDCJ State Classification Committee to demand they reclassify X so he can be transferred to a medical facility TDCJ SCC: (936) 437-6231 classify@tdcj.texas.gov Our Demands Our demands below represent the minimum necessary steps to prevent the continued deterioration of his health and premature death. We DEMAND: 1. Immediate re-instatement of his access to commissary so he can obtain food, hygiene supplies, and other critical items necessary for survival. 2. immediate transfer to the TDCJ hospital in Galveston for a comprehensive medical evaluation and treatment, with complete access to his medical records and full transparency regarding all procedure. 3. Transfer to an ADA-accessible geriatric and medical unit, with Xinachtli requesting placement at the Richard P. LeBlanc Unit in Beaumont, Texas. 4. Approval of Medical Recommended Intensive Supervision (MRIS) in recognition of the severity and progression of his medical condition, ensuring he can receive appropriate care outside of TDCJ's abusive environment.
