Is the smaller field big enough? It would be MUCH better for any kind of table top adaption, but I liked the big field.

And another sketch for a new elemental. This is Dancing Flame, a lithe mobile combatant. Being able to flame walk across the battlefield from fire to fire, it might just dance around you while assassinating your best creatures.

Back to the drawing board! Here's some sketch of a fog elemental! This one will leave enemies clouded in vapor so they won't be able to shoot back, perfect for controlling ranged skirmishes.

Keyword tooltips are online!

In the most recent playtest, I had to explain keywords over and over so now you can hover a card anytime to get the rules text!

So as I draw and flavor this creature out, it occurs to me that that design should definitely be a slow creature, seeing how it roots down and is connected to the ground. So here's the updated version.

Little note on my sketchy artistic process. Obviously, I'm not going for artistic merit right now, but I am trying to create a sketch that resembles the game mechanics. So what they do?

Absorb power from terrain -> rooty feet
Grow power/health -> leaf sword & shield with green circulation

When you remind your opponent about that splash damage and then proceed to kill your own avatar with same splash damage the next turn.

Ranged Attacks can no longer hit adjacent units. In this example, I can shoot the plant orb or the apprentice with the flame spitter lizard, but not the blue dragon that's right adjacent.

Should give enough of a counterplay...

There is some concern about readability of cards when stacking opacity effects. Transparent textboxes in transparent cards.

What if, instead of graying out the ones you can't play, I animate the one you can play? More readable?

A lot of first time players got confused by those numbers next to the actions and intuitively thought it's some kind of action cost.

It was just me marking which hotkeys to press. -.-

Time to clean up confusing info from the UI.

A much requested feature from recent playtests:

- the game board is now rotated 180 degrees for player 1 so you always fight bottom to top

(player 1 view has red tint, player 2 has blue tint in background)

Simple change that took me way too long to just put in: Your handcards go a little less off-screen at the bottom so you can still read the card names while your hand is minimized.

OBVIOUS UI IMPROVEMENT FINALLY LANDED!

Just a simple change of only highlighting playable cards if your active entity is a Conduit (spellcaster)... SHOULD BE QUICK!

4 changed files, 50 changed lines and a minor refactoring later... 😅

This has been nerfed. It now triggers when being attacked, not when taking damage. Since creatures damage each other in combat, the previous ruling allowed an unintended aggressive use of the frog.

Thanks again to all the play testers so far! It felt great getting to play this game with a bunch of strangers on @bsky.app after working on it for so long.

Lots of good feedback. Balancing will be tough, but fun. Poisoned Frog is gonna get nerfed.
