Nintendo denies recent reports that they are in contact with the Japanese government regarding generative AI.

A number of articles have recently popped up claiming that Nintendo is engaging in lobbying efforts to dissuade use of gen AI and protect their IP.

Nintendo is now attempting to identify multiple anonymous individuals who may have worked with a Reddit moderator to operate multiple Switch piracy sites.

They have requested to subpoena multiple companies, including Reddit and Discord.

Nintendo is requesting that a court award it $4,500,000 in damages from a Switch piracy Reddit moderator for operating multiple piracy sites.

The person refused to stop after Nintendo asked them to, which led to this lawsuit.

They also did not respond to the lawsuit.

Fun fact: Dolphin actually ships with a mod to fix bloom at higher resolutions. This exact galaxy was used as an example in a Progress Report!

Looks like Galaxy 2 has an issue with bloom?

If not patched, the bloom effect interacts poorly with resolution upscaling (even in Dolphin), causing it to look like this.

I quickly checked Galaxy 1 and didn't spot any issues with bloom, interestingly.

The overall project codename is Comet. Galaxy 1's codename is Cosmo, and Galaxy 2's is Cosmo2.

Pikmin 1 + 2 on the Switch also uses this "hybrid emulation" technique.

[Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2]

Both games are "emulation + native port" hybrids, very similar to Galaxy 1 in Super Mario 3D All-Stars.

The game code was rebuilt to run natively on the Switch's CPU, while graphics, audio, etc. run under Nintendo's Wii emulator (hagi).
