You made the claim. Either back it up, or ignore me. But you genuinely are looking kinda sad right now.

You love making assumptions don't ya.

It is incorrect to say, because my belief is we don't know anything that you claimed, yet.
January 21, 2026 at 7:49 PM
I didn't make that claim. I literally just said we don't know!
January 21, 2026 at 7:44 PM
Yeah but it operates in like 5 cities, how can we say it's safer when we just dont know. Also in your original post you said they were auditable, only if Waymo lets us!
January 21, 2026 at 7:37 PM
honestly I'd take another study that wasn't just from Waymo!

But I do take your point about the data, it would be nice if a government could force them to share the data. Again, my biggest issue is with these being proprietary systems
January 21, 2026 at 7:30 PM
No it's an argument against companies filling our roads with autonomous cars all using proprietary tech.
January 21, 2026 at 7:23 PM
Yeah that study is good for safety. But I'm not going to say they're safer based off 1 study.

I'd like to see studies of other self-driving tech.

The original claim wasn't about Waymo specifically yet that's the only studies being done apparently
January 21, 2026 at 7:19 PM
Nor does it take into account waymos operate in specific areas without competition. Waymos can talk to each other, but they can't talk to Tesla's and we don't know how they'll operate together.
January 21, 2026 at 7:14 PM
Yeah I've seen that, but it's not really confirming the original claim. It doesn't confirm the reliability, or efficiency and personally I don't think it necessarily confirms they're safer
January 21, 2026 at 7:13 PM
You don't need to read the entire thing. How does analysing insurance costs prove that self-driving cars are more efficient than humans?
January 21, 2026 at 6:03 PM
yeah it is both not very good and is from Waymo. Either way, just looking at insurance costs isn't the full picture
January 21, 2026 at 5:59 PM
sorry for calling out your nonsense
January 21, 2026 at 5:54 PM
That is research done by people selling the technology unfortunately
January 21, 2026 at 5:53 PM
You're just the one making the claims, I guess. And I did that, the best I could find was one from 2024 that basically said they suck at making turns.
January 21, 2026 at 5:53 PM
feel free to share the study then
January 21, 2026 at 5:49 PM
Is there even proof from someone not selling self-driving technology that the tech is safer, more efficient and more reliable than human drivers?
January 21, 2026 at 5:43 PM
Actually get one of these for £250 instead
