Folks tend to look at me with a "First World Problems" kind of disregard when I complain about the numerous flaws in MD's e-filing system. But if MDEC is inaccessible to tech literate lawyers - when it's also used by self-represented litigants/non-lawyers - it's an actual *access to justice* issue.
The MDEC Odyssey File & Serve (MD's e-filing system for the court system) portal dashboard displays an "Error" page which reads, "An error occurred while processing your request." A red box in the top right shows "Internal Server Error" overlaid over part of the interface menu.

For context, there are for some reason *4* different application processes for a public defender in MD. The one process you can't do an online app for is if you have "new charges" (which is probably the situation the majority of defendants find themselves in). I wonder why?
The Maryland Office of the Public Defender website's list of the four ways to apply for a public defender in MD: New Charges, Violation of Probation, Child-in-Need of Assistance, Juvenile cases.
