Remembering when, in the wake of a conversation in which I questionably proposed ideological overlap between Aphra Behn and Jilly Cooper, I produced this mashup:
APHRA BEHN: ROVERS. In the style of a Jilly Cooper cover, a woman (head out of shot) holds a lead on the end of which is a dog (only tail is visible)

Dear friends,
As have become a habit, I mark each #autumnequinox by sharing a small poem by Xin Qiji. I also start my translation cycle of Chinese and Japanese poems and prose that mark the twenty-four lunisolar micro-seasons. Translation notes blogged here:

Michael Mann and Peter Hotez are leading experts on climate change and vaccines, respectively, and in recent years, have both been targeted by those who seek to discredit them. That experience led the two to come together to write the new book "Science Under Siege."

Does Donne's 'Since she whom I lov'd hath paid her last debt' count? Sorry if obvious/irrelevant.

BBC News seem suicidally bent on ignoring political parties with many more MPs, more rational policies and more supporters than Reform. Suicidal because one of the first things Reform would do should they ever get near real power is defund and throttle the BBC, founded to be impartial and unbiased.

Reform UK, which has a grand total of four MPs, was just given an uninterrupted platform for an hour and a half on the BBC and Sky News channels, in order to talk about its plans for mass deportations

When was the last time the Greens (with four MPs) or the Lib Dems (with 72) were given the same?

Great to see _Mason & Dixon_, which I love, getting its due here. Slightly disconcerting to see almost half of the novels/collections dismissed as thematically interesting but basically incoherent.

Posting this again. Not enough electricity left to build affordable homes in 3 west London boroughs, because all capacity has been used by a data centre.
