David Frum was another who bought his obviously bullshit "apology", so it's not just mainstream liberal intellectual standards that are not cutting it.

Having a memory longer than a goldfish is apparently enough to make you a top-tier public intellectual nowadays.

Yep, and strategically placed in purple states to finally tip them into reliably non-chud territory.

I have always thought that if you gave MAGA the Nuremburg 2.0 treatment they deserve, you'd at least get a portion of their caudillo-loving base to...not necessarily *approve* per se, but grudgingly accept.

The same thing is going to happen w/ this "Just go into the trades bullshit".

That works for certain individuals until it doesn't. Once you add a huge amount of skilled blue collar workers to the labor force, their bargaining power (surprise!) declines!

That's low-key the entire point, of course.

I haven't stopped thinking about this passage since I first read it

This sounds like an Albion's Seed thing?

Also, I haven't been able to get this post out of my head since I came across it

This is one reason the age of orality is a bad thing, imo. It's possible (for some people) to extemporaneously riff in front of a camera and mostly be cogent but they're the exception. They could write well if they had to.

People who *can't* write well are showing their brains don't work good.

I need to know what Sadie Sink thinks about The Village Homosexual.

My limited experience - the super-conscientious workhorses who would be great without AI use AI to boost their already strong productivity, while people who aren't very good try to use AI to cover that up and I still don't entirely trust or respect their work output.

My personal favorite is "The Supreme Court is now a randomly selected, rotating selection of District Court judges serving non-consecutive, limited terms"

This has the excellent benefit of eroding foundational support for the right-wing base. Douchebag local car dealers, MLM grifters, robocall scumbags, etc. No one likes these fuckers - run on a platform promising to annihilate them from American life.

In 2021, I don't think the majority of the Dem base would have countenanced open contempt of the press by the Biden admin.

That's not going to be an issue going forward, largely due to the behavior of the mainstream press from 2022-present.

I think that's the reason why the right relies so heavily on Catholic reactionaries. When you need some intellectual scaffolding to justify existing hierarchy and injustice, they're the only ones on the team who have obviously cracked open a book.

Yeah, Hegseth is absolutely the murder-suicide type.

Hopefully he just takes his own worthless life.

Genuinely evil publication.

Great politics honestly, because of left-wing people actually (correctly) agree that higher ed is fucked up, but for completely different reasons than the fake MAGA chud reasons.

Higher ed administrators are a richly deserving scapegoat.

Something about SEAL culture in particular that is extremely fucked up.

His acceptance to Yale was likely due to some sort of diversity initiatives during the War on Terror era where they sought out veterans.

Not to mention that the only law gig he got after graduating was some backwater district court, for a Yalie usually a sign you were a pretty mediocre student.

I made a phrenology joke about Chris Rufo's Italian ancestry and got blocked by an account I like so I will say no more.

Public money, sure. Not sure how I feel about publicly-funded grocery stores, but trying some targeted pilot programs seems fine to gauge as a proof of concept.

If I were a city councilor, not sure I'd champion it but I also wouldn't vociferously oppose.

I broadly agree w/ the argument that physical stores are a good thing and help mitigate social atomization to a degree.

I'd consider them social infrastructure the same as parks, good sidewalks, libraries, etc. Essential places for social cohesion, so delivery isn't quite an adequate substitute.

Exactly, most pro wrestlers are just theater kids with superhero muscles.
November 26, 2025 at 4:08 PM
Same thing with MMA and combat sports. There's no reason they should be strictly right-coded, plenty of left-leaning people like combat sports and even practice themselves.

But right now, many of the most prominent MMA personalities and influencers are reactionary human dildos.

If it's clear that English is their first language and they're also absurdly overconfident proclaiming about about American politics while getting basic shit incorrect, it's likely either a moron American or your median British person.

It's genuinely boggling that he's one of the great action filmmakers of all time, a pretty solid documentarian and a respected deep sea explorer.
