Here there and everywhere (god this makes me sound like a bot)
Honestly surprised no sitcoms have had an episode where someone does TV debate tactics only to lose utterly because they broke all the rules

Lol. As an American currently living in Europe I've been having to do a lot of explaining to left leaning Americans in the United States that actually no one hates me or blames me for Trump. That Olympics clip is going to save me a lot of time going forward.

I believe I've tracked down the original poll and looks like it's "Do you consider Canada to be an ally or an enemy of the United States?" I'll note the numbers in the quoted post appear to be inflated on both sides by the removal of Don't Knows. today.yougov.com/topics/inter...

Yeah, if neither he nor Harris run everything is up in the air and I have no predictions
February 6, 2026 at 8:07 PM
My prediction is if not Harris it'll probably be Buttigieg, less because of anything specific to him and more because the types of candidates who tend to do well in primaries are VPs and runners up from the previous cycle and he's the only one from the previous cycle to more or less fit that bill.

When I adopted a little stray rescue dog I had to spend months training her on getting used to going outside for walks because as far as she was concerned she had hit the jackpot with inside and never wanted to go out again

Also given how many people are eligible to submit nominations it does seem plausible that other cities may have received nominations over the years. I.e. Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Freetown, Befast.

Additionally as a factual matter at least one other city reportedly was nominated. Kukës, Albania in 2000 for its role in hosting refugees from Kosovo.
Kukës: The first city ever nominated for a Nobel Prize
At the height of the Kosovo war, this 16,000-person area welcomed more than 400,000 refugees. Now, Kukës is tapping into its unique history of conflict and compassion to lure visitors.

To the extent this is true (and, barring major scandal, I doubt any candidates will make any difference in GE performance) I suspect the risk is him being seen as far left rather than leftists (who make up too small a voting block to matter outside the closest of races) refusing to vote for him.

Best once you control for the fact that everyone in Ireland has at least one grandparent exactly like him
February 2, 2026 at 5:13 PM
Probably, with the important caveat that this is just applying a uniform swing based off of polling on a hypothetical scenario. More realistically a total Labour collapse results in big tactical swings towards Greens and Lib Dems among anti-Reform voters.

Lizardman's constant, for those who don't know, is the idea that you'll get about 4% of respondents saying yes to literally anything for lols/picking answers at random/genuine belief reasons. Named for the percentage who say lizardmen control the world.

Firmly in Lizardman's constant territory.

It’s only the federal charges, the state murder charges still stand. Something about how the federal charges require another crime taking place and stalking (which he was also charged with) not being sufficient.
January 30, 2026 at 5:38 PM
Trials on the murders of abortion providers seem like the best comparison here. In the case of the George Tiller trial the defense tried to make a circus of it, was shot down by the judge on every attempt, and the jury ended up returning a guilty verdict in half an hour.

I definitely felt like it got a boost from people reviewing the argument rather than reviewing the film. Coming in the middle of the attempted post 2024 new media normal made people more charitable than they otherwise would have been.

Looking through the website of the company that made it and it's clear it's all the do. Mostly older wars, but a few recent ones. Was particularly put off by their Bosnian war game that literally features a photo of Sniper Alley on the cover, but apparently that one is actually well reviewed?
