The human interactions were interesting sometimes, but ultimately mundane and unsympathetic. It was well acted and produced, just the show doesn’t satisfy someone looking for a SciFi story.

Ryan Gosling is better cast as Ryland Grace than Matt Damon was as Mark Watney in Andy Weir’s earlier book-then-movie, The Martian.
Hope that we can see something else in print from Andy soon. His books have all been real standouts. One of the greats!
