I just don't think Walmart would raise wages if SNAP didn't exist
Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

I don't think you can ask professionals about their own field. They always love the light comedy starring long-suffering, witty goofballs who make just the right amount of mistakes. VEEP, SCRUBS, MY COUSIN VINNY. But that's image control, not a serious judgement of accuracy
an interesting subtopic! which shows/movies are beloved by the profession for Getting It Right! Lawyers famously love MY COUSIN VINNIE, doctors I believe love SCRUBS, apparently Aussie barristers are surprisingly fond of RAKE's depiction of some aspects of the law.
Oh god I remember watching HOUSE with some doctors, it was a the usual mix of “you would get fired instantly and never practice medicine again no matter how good u are” and “that case actually isn’t hard to solve at all”
