It's pretty amusingly the name of a town (and more famously its beach) in Scotland, so it is literally impossible for me to take seriously haha.

I feel like because this is a discussion based site I should say more, but I just really relate to that. I wish it wasn't so hard to love and accept everything when I know it's what I want to do.

It only hits me how bad my attitude towards creativity is at times like right now, when I had to really process your last sentence before I was sure I agreed. I’ll get there again hopefully.

The pigeon trilogy really struck me! I haven’t listened since my first time, but this is the case for a good deal of music that really rattles me. Pigeons often cross my mind when I’m trying for productivity or creativity so I’m making a considerable effort to be inspired and not discouraged by you.

I’ve been REALLY struggling with feelings regarding art in this regard recently. It sort of feels like a spin on the more general evaluation of human significance: as in “are we unimportant because we are so insignificant in the greater scheme of the universe, or is this why we are important?”

I’m such a sucker for skies with multiple spheroids (I guess) visible. We messed up by only having one big sun and one big moon. Very, very pretty!

Should also mention the blackened aspect of Ulthar’s music. If the blackened stuff really stands out to you, Spirit Possession is another incredible band with some member overlap with Ulthar that focuses more on this vibe. Some very cool production and unique guitar works - Of the Sign is a must!

I’m bad at recommendations, but when I want a cosmic death-y fix I go to Ulthar. Any album is worth a listen (and look because of the amazing cover art) but Anthronomicon is a personal favourite.

It’s sad that we need signs, but also beautiful that they can kind of work I think. Makes me feel very sappy - like a lot nowadays I suppose.

Ahhhh! I knew someone must have used that painting for an album cover at some point! What an awesome piece! And works great for the old school death metal and more atmospheric vibe both! Love warbly pitch shifting too, especially on piano, so that's a big plus as well! Thanks!
