I analyze baseball, especially for the SF Giants. I’m also interested in a ton of things. My Giants and baseball blog: https://obsessivegiantscompulsive.blogspot.com/
If I remember right, Santos was a Giants prospect sent in trade, and he did well for his new team. I guess he has hit a few bumps in the road, since he’s only 26 but getting a MiLB contract.

Dominican right-hander pitcher Gregory Santos has signed a minor league contract with an MLB invitation to Spring Training with the San Francisco Giants, sources confirmed.

Santos, 26, was non-tendered by the Seattle Mariners after the 2025 season.

Looks like he will be our closer in the second half of 2026 season, he was a great closer for Detroit in 2024.

Interesting acquisition. Does not necessarily mean there won’t be another SP signing, he is a great depth piece who can and has swung from SP to RP in his career, so he could be 5th SP or prospect could beat him out and he can be RP, or he can move back as SP if injuries or poor prospects pitching.
The Giants continue to bolster their pitching staff 💪

Ugh! I was hoping the Giants would sign him, sounded like a great 5th starter material.

And I would not bet against Devers being good beyond that, he made the majors at 20, and was great at age 22, those players generally have longer back ends.

Whatever, I’m just glad that Devers is in the middle of the Giants lineup. And should be good there for half the contract.

Every time I see Devers running the bases, even HR trots, but especially him scoring easily from first on a double, I don’t see a fat player, as some have described him, he’s just a big dude. It’s amazing to me how many BoSox fans are creating cover for mgmt’s screwup of this situation!

Looked up where Devers is headed towards with this set of benchmarks: he should reach RBI and Runs easily, borderline for homers, depends on home park affects, but will need to average about double career rate to reach BB. Still, not too bad, still pretty great.
MLB Players with 350+ HR, 1,000+ BB, 1,000+ RBI, 1,000+ runs before turning 33:

Barry Bonds
Jimmie Foxx
Lou Gehrig
Bryce Harper ⬅️⬅️ (reached last night)
Mickey Mantle
Eddie Matthews
Mel Ott
Albert Pujols
Babe Ruth
Jim Thome
Bryce Harper’s 350th home run was an upper decker

Giants are in the upper right corner, though after Hicks start, we are closer to SD now
