Serverless ability to scale to 0 can lead to more efficient resource usage on bursty workloads where servers might otherwise be idling a lot. But there is compute overhead (for the cloud provider) in spinning up a container/microVM to run your workload, so per “unit of compute” it is more costly.

On the bright side, we of little sleep have more time to do (zombified) activities, right?

I’ll see your containers and raise you WebAssembly components 😄

Hah! I would imagine we have all run into the frustrating “deadly embrace” problem of CloudFormation — Terraform not being tied to it is certainly compelling 😄 being flexible to better support non-AWS resources is also attractive. I’ll have to learn more about Terraform and give it a try!

Have you used AWS CDK? I am curious how Terraform compares from a developer perspective

I can't control the world around me, but I can define the person I want to be, and how I contribute to making the world a better place.

I'll spend my days doing that work with intentionality.

I occasionally dabble with Apple homekit and find that integrations for various devices perpetually break! The fragmentation of smart home ecosystems has only accelerated of late too — this device only works with Alexa now, while that one only works with Google home, and so on
