No. That's nonsense.
Train fares were nationalised in 1993. Gov has always set most fares. Gov increases fares on popular routes/times to reduce cost on taxpayer.

The private sector, Trainline/Ticket Split, that have developed tech to defeat Gov exploiting fares.

If train 1 is delayed you can travel on the the next available service on train 2.

This is not true.
EU ‘Roam like at home’ only applies to calls and texts.
Data is capped and varies by provider, but is certainly not unlimited.
