Jeter would've hit a grand slam in that spot

Yes this was the first thing I thought of when they brought Mason Fluharty in on Sunday (my introduction to Mason Fluharty).

This inspired me to look up Jett Bandy and learn that Jett Bandy’s dad was the guy who trained Tom Cruise to do bartending tricks for Cocktail.
A transcript of an interview with former MLB catcher Jett Bandy about how his father was a bartender who did bottle-flipping tricks and trained Tom Cruise for the movie Cocktail.

Nathan Lukes is the third fakest-sounding baseball name on the Blue Jays roster behind Addison Barger and Mason Fluharty.

I demand demarcation of the north shore/south shore/suffolk/hamptons boundaries. Four totally different long islands.

I also kind of feel like each of the upper New England states has its own distinct thing going on.

Harkens back to the famed Rubber v. Glue case of 1957.

Reuters photographer Jonathan Ernst noticed that Bondi flipped open a file during the Senate hearing and he zoomed in.

Inside were her crib notes for attacking the senators.

The GOP now practicing Cliff's Notes Fascism

In other words, under oath Bondi was purely a performance.

What an amazing showcase for contemporary Major League Baseball, and here to tell you all about it is the man who hates it most, John Smoltz

How are the Blue Jays doing this with single-payer healthcare

I defy any one of these guys to eat a Ricobene’s breaded steak sandwich, contemplate its life-affirming splendor, then go on doing their fascism. You can’t do it. It’s too beautiful. Also you’ll need a nap.

The road to anti fascism lies in big boy solidarity and if it takes fucked up Chicago food to make it happen then we roll

I made the mistake of reading the comments recently and found Mets fans arguing that they might as well trade Lindor now because Soto’s going to opt out after 2029 anyway.

They obviously agreed that "Come Together" was simply too good too omit even if it was a little ambiguous for the main headline.

the most fantastical part is trying to imagine a New Jersey dad who wouldn't want his daughter going out with Bruce Springsteen.

Basically every Bruce Springsteen song is about why you should have sex with Bruce Springsteen, usually in his car.

I didn’t even have to look into what series you were talking about once I saw “Games 2 and 5.”

we need a word for a type of person who spends all their time working to live in a city so they can be near cool things, but they don't actually like going out

This is true, but I think there are tiers. I can’t think of any that I especially care for as people, but the ones who treat the team as their business are worse to me than the ones who treat the team as their (wildly lucrative) toy.

The Blue Jays, Brewers and Mariners are all very unobjectionable to me. The high percentage of unobjectionables in the LDS this year is what inspired the question. Many of the perennially bad teams are objectionable to me for pocketing revenue sharing money and/or being so bad at getting good.

I found the good Royals teams of 2015-16 somewhat annoying in their style of play and the discourse they inspired, but mostly I agree. KC is a quietly great baseball town and their stadium is wildly underrated.
ogtedberg.bsky.social
Yeah I think it might be the Brewers. Top of my head, only major objection I can think of is that they were Selig’s team, but they’re a small market team that makes an earnest effort and has little to show for it, plus they have the best logo in sports.
