We really are heading into that cyberpunk dystopia where absolutely everything is owned by 3 companies.

Oh that’s a good idea, that’s definitely possible.
The e-mail makes it sound like I contacted them, the doctor tried to reply to “me” but couldn’t make contact, so they went to my website to get my e-mail address there, and have messaged now to re-connect and continue the conversation.

It’s not someone I’d heard of prior, but they do work in the department that would handle trans-related medicine.
That’s a really good point about it potentially being bad faith. Weird that they’d try trick me by referencing contact we’ve allegedly had. Maybe that’s to try tempt me into responding?

I had dismissed it as junk, but I ended up re-reading it because it’s so odd.

It’s goofy but I do think the right thing was to not go too far. They’re paying homage to stuff like the original It novel, which is very 80s.
Also the further they go the more modern the tech becomes which also impacts the plot. I get why they wanted to stay in the same few years.
