Ginnie Graham: Oklahomans shouldn't brush off LA immigration protests as not our problem

I sent Senator Langsford an email to protect Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare. He wrote back to tell me the president had promised to keep the safety nets. He said he trusted the president. I responded that I did not trust the president.

A few days later I sent another email and got a

@joycewhitevance.bsky.social can a president send US citizens to a foreign prison. A reporter asked Trump if the president of El Salvador offered to take US citizens into his prison. Trump said yes if he can. He said he would send the “wise guys”. I suspect the answer is no but with him who knows.

Trump “won the hearts” with “The Apprentice.” We learned it was scripted and Trump was not “boss”. In the White House “game” I’m pretty certain he’s not the boss. Elon isn’t either. I think the Heritage Foundation is sending the cues. We are so afraid of this man we don’t know how to stop him.

State leaders don't have to like each other. They do need to do the shake downs in private. What Trump and JD Vance did to Zelensky was inhumane, degrading, and devastating. Not just to Zelensky but also to the people of the United States and the post WWII allies.

Working on an article but it's not going to be finished today. Cold weather and sleet makes for a lousy day to write. Thinking about a good book, cup of tea, and a fire in the fireplace.

Cold weather makes for less awareness. Just 23 degrees in my home town. All I want to do is stay in front of the fire place, wrapped in a blanket, and watch old movies. Ones with happy endings.

Listening to NPR's reports on bombs exploded in Vegas and New Orleans. Clips from Reagan, Clinton, Carter, and Trump showed Reagan and Clinton offered hope and encouragement. Carter was darker, tell like it is. Trump said he was right. Trump cannot be counselor in chief without empathy. Long years.

For several months I've researched a textile strike-nationally in 1934 and more locally in 1935. The research was for a display at the museum where I work. The more I read, the more I realized people didn't know what happened. What started as a page or two turned into five pages. History repeats.

It's nice to see Bluesky (literally and figuratively). Also nice to see someone from Tulsa created this site. Don't build silos. Build tin-cans tied together with wire. For those who don't know about cans and wire, it's old school communication between friends.
